Henry Bolckow Lodge
This is Henry Bolckow Lodge. It's one of ten lodges on the Roseberry View retreat just outside Great Ayton. They were all built new in 2019.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, so it's very well finished and comfortable.
The lodge looks out over a private lake. You can see Roseberry Topping and Captain Cook's Monument from the decking. That decking has a hot tub and a barbecue.
Inside, it's open plan downstairs. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's also a beer pump if you fancy pulling your own pint.
On the site itself, there's a shared sauna with a glass front, so you get the same view. There's a small children's play area and a separate bit for dogs. There's also a small boating lake.
A public footpath runs about a mile through fields into Great Ayton village. That's where you'll find a few shops and pubs. There's a famous ice cream shop and a good pie shop there too.
For days out, you're right on the edge of the North York Moors. Roseberry Topping is a great walk, it's about a 20 minute drive. The coast at Saltburn is about half an hour. For a bigger town, Middlesbrough is 20 minutes north.
A welcome pack is left for you when you arrive. Bedding and towels are included. There's on site parking. No pets, sorry.
