This is Transporter Lodge, on the Roseberry View retreat near Great Ayton.
It's a modern lodge built in 2019. Sleeps eight in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, so everything's in good order and well-equipped.
The main thing is the view. You look out over a private lake straight to Roseberry Topping. It's a proper landmark. Captain Cook's Monument is on the next hill. The lodge is set in landscaped grounds. You have your own patio and garden area.
Each lodge has a hot tub and a wood burner. The kitchen has a beer pump fitted, if you want to set up a keg. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included.
On the site there's a shared, glass-fronted sauna that also looks at Roseberry Topping. There's a small children's play area, a communal barbecue spot, and a small boating lake. A public footpath runs about a mile through fields into Great Ayton village. The village has shops, pubs, and a famous ice cream shop.
The Cleveland Hills are right here, between the North York Moors and Middlesbrough. It's good walking country. You can walk up Roseberry Topping from here. For a day out, the North York Moors National Park is on the doorstep. The coast, like Saltburn, is about a 30 minute drive.
