The Riverside Lodge

The Riverside Lodge is on the Roseberry View retreat near Great Ayton. It's one of ten lodges set around a private lake. They were all built new in 2019.

It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's a 5 Star lodge, so it's well finished and everything is in good order. The main living space is open plan. There's a wood burner, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. You get your own patio with a BBQ, and a parking space right outside.

The view from the lodge looks over the lake towards Roseberry Topping and Captain Cook's Monument. Each lodge has its own hot tub on the patio.

The site has a few shared things. There's a sauna with a glass front, so you get that same view. There's a small boating lake, a kids' play area, and a fenced dog run. A public footpath leads across the fields into Great Ayton village, which is about a mile away. There's a shop there, a couple of pubs that do food, and a famous ice cream and pie shop.

For days out, you're well placed. You're on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. The coast, like Saltburn, is about a 30 minute drive. For history, there's Captain Cook's childhood museum in Great Ayton itself, and a bit further is the National Trust's Ormesby Hall. Middlesbrough, with the Captain Cook Museum there, is about a 20 minute drive.

No pets, I'm afraid.
