Harbour Cottage is on the front in Port William, overlooking the little harbour and Luce Bay. It's just a row of cottages right by the water. You get the garden out the back, which leads to a sand and shingle beach. If you're lucky with the weather, you can see the Isle of Man from upstairs.
It sleeps eight, but it's three bedrooms, so two of them are pretty big doubles with bunk beds in them. There's two bathrooms though, which helps a lot. It's a 4 Star place, so it's well sorted. It's clean, warm, and has what you need.
The pub and a small shop are literally fifty yards up the street. The pub does food. That's about it for the village, which is the point. It's quiet.
If you want to walk, there's the coast. The beach here is good for a wander with the dog, or you can drive up to the Mull of Galloway lighthouse. It's about a 20-minute drive. St Ninian's Cave is worth a visit too, it's not far.
For a bigger shop or cafes, Wigtown is about eight miles away. That's Scotland's book town. Newton Stewart is about fifteen miles. They've got supermarkets and an art gallery.
Facilities: there's a woodburner, which is good for chilly evenings. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, all included. Bedding and towels are provided. It's all enclosed, so safe for kids. Sorry, no pets allowed.
