The Goyle is one of two lodges we built on our land, up on a bit of a hill looking over our fields. You can see for miles and there’s a small lake in the valley. It’s very quiet here, and at night you get a good view of the stars.
It sleeps seven people. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It’s got a 4 Star rating, which means it’s comfortable and well-equipped. The decking area is big and it’s fully enclosed with a gate, which is good for dogs or little kids.
There’s a privacy hedge between our two lodges, but if you’ve got a bigger group you can book both as there’s a connecting path.
The local pub is about a mile away. For a shop or Post Office, you’ll need to go about two miles. The Grand Western Canal is nearby, it’s good for walks and bike rides, and you can get boat trips from there.
Within a half hour drive you’ve got a few options. Exmoor’s up north, Dartmoor’s to the south. Exeter is east, and the north coast surfing beaches like Saunton or Westward Ho! are about 30 minutes away if the traffic’s light. Closer by, there’s Knightshayes, which is a nice National Trust house and garden.
For facilities: it’s an open plan layout, with a wood burner, dishwasher, washing machine, and parking right there. We provide the bedding and towels. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
