The Green Catacol

The Green is in Catacol, on the Isle of Arran. It's a single-storey house, so everything is on one level. It's detached and you get the garden to yourselves.

It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms, one is a king, one a double, and one with twin beds. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. The main thing is the view. The living area has big windows looking straight out over the Kilbrannan Sound to the Kintyre peninsula. You can watch the ferries go by. There's a wood-burning stove for cooler evenings.

The garden is enclosed, which is good if you've got dogs or kids. There's a barbecue and a fire pit out there. You might see seals from the garden, sometimes dolphins.

Catacol itself is a small hamlet. The row of white cottages along the shore, called the Twelve Apostles, is just along the road. It's very quiet here. For a shop or a pub, you'll need to drive to Lochranza, which is about two miles south. The Arran Distillery is there if you like whisky. Lochranza Castle is by the water.

For walking, you can start right from the door on coastal paths. Goatfell is the big climb if you want it. Brodick is about a 20-minute drive for more shops, cafés, and Brodick Castle. The whole island is good for cycling, golf, and fishing if that's your thing.

Facilities wise: it's got a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
