10 The Apostles is a cottage in Catacol, on the Isle of Arran. It's one of a row of a dozen white houses right by the shore, which is where the name comes from.
The house is built on the slope, so you walk in on the ground floor. That's the living room and kitchen. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and the bathroom. It sleeps five. The stairs are a typical cottage staircase: they're fine, but they're a bit steeper than you get in a modern house.
The main thing is the view. You look straight out over the water to the Kintyre peninsula. You can watch the ferry going back and forth. We get a lot of wildlife here. You'll see seabirds and sometimes seals. If you're lucky, you might spot dolphins or an otter. Red deer come down to the village sometimes.
You're about fifty yards from a pebble beach. The village itself is tiny. There's no shop or pub here. For that, you drive about five miles to Lochranza. They've got a shop, a couple of places to eat, and the Arran Distillery is there if you want a tour.
You can walk straight from the door. There's a good path that follows the burn inland. The famous Postman's Path goes over the hill to Lochranza as well. If you like history, there's Brodick Castle about a forty minute drive away, run by the National Trust for Scotland. The whole island is good for cycling if you bring your bikes.
Inside, it's comfortable. It's got a 4 Star rating. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. The WiFi usually works okay. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing dogs. The listing says two pets are allowed.
