The Back House, 11 The Apostles
The Back House is at number 11, The Apostles, in Catacol. It’s behind the famous row of cottages you see in the pictures. I’m talking about the ones right on the shorefront. This one is set back, so it's quieter. You get an enclosed garden at the back. There's a glimpse of the sea from there.
It’s a 4 Star cottage, sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom with a shower. It’s clean and comfortable, not huge. You’ve got a wood burner for cosy nights. WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. All the bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
The beach is just around the corner, a minute's walk. You’re right at the start of Glen Catacol, so walks start from the door. You can follow the burn, or head over the hills. The bus stop is very close if you don’t fancy driving.
You’ll see wildlife. Red deer come down, there are seals, sometimes dolphins offshore. Red squirrels in the trees. Keep an eye on the sky for golden eagles.
Lochranza is two miles north. That’s where the Arran Distillery is, a couple of places to eat, and the small car ferry over to Kintyre. There’s a shop for basics about three miles south in Pirnmill.
