The Shieling is a ground floor flat in Lochranza. It's part of a detached house. You can see the sea from the living room and the main bedroom.
It sleeps four, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. The rating is 3 Star, which is about right. It's clean and perfectly comfortable. It's not a luxury place, but it works. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you've got dogs.
Speaking of which, we take up to two pets. You can park right outside.
Lochranza is a small village. The flat is about 50 yards from the shore. There's a pub and restaurant 400 yards away. The shop is further, about seven miles, so it's best to pick things up on your way in. The Arran Distillery is in the village if you're interested.
From the ferry slip here, you can get the short crossing to Claonaig on the Kintyre mainland. That lets you explore further, or catch other ferries to Islay, Jura and Gigha.
For local walks, you can just head out the door. The coast path is right there. For longer days out, Goat Fell is a proper hill walk, and Glen Rosa is beautiful. There are red deer and seals about, and you might see golden eagles. The info for National Trust for Scotland Arran is useful for planning.
Inside, there's a washing machine and a dishwasher. WiFi, a TV, all the basics. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them.
