Sunset Cabin is near Ormskirk. It's a hand-built wooden cabin in a field. It's glamping style, so think simple and cosy, not hotel luxury. It's got a 3 Star rating.
It sleeps two. There's one room that's a living space by day, with a table that converts to a small double bed at night. It's compact, so it's fine for a couple but not for people who need a lot of space.
The shower and toilet are in a separate, small cabin right next door. You have to go outside to get to them. It's about ten steps. It's fine, but you'll want a dressing gown if it's cold or raining.
The views from the deck are really good, straight out over fields. The sunsets are worth the name.
We live in the farmhouse next door. We're here if you need anything, but we'll leave you to it otherwise.
You're welcome to bring one dog. The garden is enclosed, but it's not Fort Knox, so if your dog is a determined escape artist, keep an eye on them.
Facilities wise: there's a TV, WiFi, a BBQ, and parking right by the cabin. Bedding and towels are included.
For things to do, Ormskirk town is about ten minutes away by car. It's got a market and a train station. You can get a direct train to Liverpool from there. The coast is about twenty minutes drive. That gets you to Formby beach, or the iron men statues at Crosby. Southport's seafront is about the same distance.
If you're walking, Clieves Hill viewpoint is close by. For planning wider trips, the Visit Liverpool site is useful, and the National Trust page for Formby has beach access details.
