Rose Cottage

Rose Cottage is in Jack's Mere, which is just outside Scarisbrick. It's a bungalow, so everything's on one level. It's detached and the owners live next door.

It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating so it's comfortable and well looked after, not just a basic box.

The garden has roses, which is where the name comes from. It's a proper cottage garden. You get your own bit at the back with a lawn and patio. There's a conservatory with seating so you can sit and look at the garden even if it's a bit chilly. The lounge has an open fire for the winter.

You're about four miles from Southport. It's a Victorian seaside town with a pier, a sandy beach, and all the usual things like a waterpark and bowling. It's a traditional sort of place.

For walks, you've got the Leeds/Liverpool canal nearby. Scarisbrick Marina is about a mile and a half away, Burscough Wharf is five miles. There are country pubs along the towpath you can stop at. There's a local pub about a mile from the cottage.

If you're into golf, Royal Birkdale is four miles away. Martin Mere Wetland Centre is six miles for birdwatching. The National Trust's red squirrel place at Formby is about nine miles.

Facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, WiFi, a cot if you need it, and bedding is included. No pets, sorry.
