The Shippon is a cottage converted from an old barn. It's on a working farm down a quiet lane. There are three other cottages here, set around a cobbled courtyard. It's semi-detached.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms with one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The ceilings are low in some places, and the stairs are quite steep. Just so you know.
The garden is shared and there's about six acres of land to wander around. You get parking right outside. There's a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair.
You're about ten minutes' drive from the coast. Southport is the main seaside town there. It's got a long pier and a sandy beach.
Burscough is the nearest village, about two miles away. It has a few shops and places to eat. Ormskirk is bigger, with a market twice a week, and is about four miles.
If you like wildlife, Martin Mere Wetland Centre is very close. The Formby coastline with its red squirrels and pine woods is about half an hour's drive. There are several golf courses nearby too, including Royal Birkdale.
No pets, I'm afraid. The place isn't set up for them.
If you're coming with a bigger group, the other cottages here can be rented together. They sleep sixteen in total.
