Laurel Pod is on our farm at Brighouse Green, near Lathom. It's a glamping pod for two people. Detached, so it's just you out there. One bedroom and a shower room.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and well-equipped, but remember it is a pod. It's a sturdy, insulated cabin, not a brick cottage.
The pod is open plan. The kitchen area is at one end, the living space in the middle, and the bed at the other end. There's a TV and WiFi. You have your own little patio area with a private hot tub. The views from there are good: you can see right out to the Pennines on a clear day.
The farm is a working one, so you'll see sheep and maybe hear tractors. It feels quite remote, but you're not. The village of Westhead is about a mile away. There's a pub there that does food, about a five-minute walk down the lane.
Ormskirk is two miles. That's where you'll find the supermarkets, a few restaurants, and the train station. The train to Liverpool city centre takes about 35 minutes.
If you drive, Southport is about half an hour away for the beach and the promenade. The coast at Crosby with the Antony Gormley statues is about the same. For a proper day out, you can be in the Lake District in just over an hour, or Manchester in under an hour.
Facilities are all included: bedding, towels, electricity. There's parking right next to the pod. No pets, sorry. The hot tub is checked and cleaned between every stay.
