West Lodge is on the Tower of Lethendy estate, about five miles outside Perth. It's a stone cottage, detached, with its own garden.
It sleeps six. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, so it works for two families or a group. It was all renovated last year, so everything's new and works properly. It's got a 5 star rating.
The estate is about 39 acres. You're welcome to walk around most of it. There's a private six-hole golf course and a tennis court you can use. You need to bring your own golf clubs and tennis balls. Just put the tennis stuff back when you're done. Some areas are marked private for the owners, so just stick to the guest parts.
It's quiet here. You get the sound of the river and not much else. Good for a proper break.
Perth is a ten minute drive for shops or a meal out. There's fishing and horse riding nearby if you organise it. For a day by the water, Dundee or St Andrews are about half an hour away. St Andrews has the famous Old Course and a good beach. Glenshee is under an hour if you fancy the mountains.
It says beach is 25 miles, but that'll be the Tay coast. It's more for a walk than a swim, to be honest.
For things to do, the National Trust for Scotland Perthshire page is good. Also Perth and Visit Fife for St Andrews.
Facilities: it's got a washing machine, WiFi, TV, a cot and highchair if needed. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside. You can bring two dogs.
