This is Sheldon Cottage, in Bishop's Castle. It's a detached house, so no neighbours on the other side of the wall. It's a family home really, so it sleeps up to eight. There are three bedrooms but two of them are quite large doubles, and there's a sofa bed downstairs too. Two bathrooms, one is en-suite to the ground floor bedroom.
It has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and updated where it needs to be, but it's not a show home. The stairs are a typical old house staircase.
You're right in the town. The front door opens onto the street. There's a back garden that's enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing a dog. We allow one well-behaved pet.
Bishop's Castle itself is a proper market town. There's a co-op for basics, and some good independent shops. Several pubs are within a few minutes' walk. The town has festivals through the year, like the beer festival in June.
For local walks, you can start from the door. The Shropshire Hills are all around. The Long Mynd is about a fifteen minute drive away for more serious walking or just the views.
Further out, you've got places like Ludlow for food and the castle, or Shrewsbury for shopping. The Powis Castle gardens are worth the trip. All within half an hour or so.
In the house, you've got the basics: wifi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. All bedding and towels are included. There's no allocated parking, but you can park on the street directly outside or nearby with no charges or permits needed.
