Walkmill Lodge

Walkmill Lodge is in Walkmill. It's a small Shropshire hamlet outside Bishops Castle. The cottage is detached. It was a stone outbuilding and an artist's studio before we converted it.

It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have their own ensuite bathrooms. That's useful. The rating is 5 Star, which means it's got everything you need. It's not a palace, but it's comfortable and well finished.

You can bring one dog. There's an enclosed garden, and a patio area with furniture. It gets the evening sun. Inside there's a wood burning stove, which we supply logs for, and underfloor heating on the ground floor. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and parking right outside.

The village shop and a pub are about a quarter of a mile away. The pub does food. Bishops Castle is a couple of miles. It's a proper small market town with a few shops and pubs. Church Stretton and Ludlow are about twenty minutes by car.

The main thing here is the walking. You can step straight out onto footpaths. The Long Mynd and the Stiperstones are a short drive away. It's all part of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You’re also not far from the Welsh border.

For days out, there are National Trust properties like Attingham Park or Cardingmill Valley. English Heritage has Stokesay Castle nearby. Ludlow has its castle and good food shops.
