This is Coalhill Farm Byre. It's on the edge of Ardrossan, up a farm track. You're on a working farm, so you'll see sheep and sometimes alpacas in the fields. The view is the main thing. You look out over the fields to the Firth of Clyde and Arran. On a clear day you can see Ailsa Craig.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms. One is a super king with its own shower room. The other has two singles that can zip together to make another super king. There's a second bathroom, so no queueing. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means everything's new and it's well equipped.
Outside, there's a separate summerhouse with the hot tub in it. That's handy, you don't have to go through the house to get to it. There's a patio with a table and a BBQ, and a bit of closed-off grass for kids. There's also a small play area.
The farm is up off the main road, so it's quiet. Ardrossan town and the train station are about ten minutes by car. The local beach is two miles down the hill at Saltcoats. For a nicer beach, try the one at Largs further up the coast, or head down to Troon.
If you want to go to Arran, the ferry leaves from Ardrossan. It's about an hour to Brodick. Great for a day trip if the weather's good. The island of Cumbrae is a short drive and then a five minute ferry from Largs.
For golf, there are courses all along this coast. Royal Troon and Turnberry are within half an hour's drive. For a walk, the Clyde Coastal Path goes past nearby. Culzean Castle is about forty minutes south. It's a good day out. If it's raining, the Robert Burns museum in Ayr is twenty minutes away.
In the cottage you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if needed. Parking is right outside. No pets allowed.
