Hillend Stables is a cottage just outside Dalry in Ayrshire. It's a three bedroom place for up to six people. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating from VisitScotland, which means it's been checked and is comfortable. It doesn't mean it's fancy in a showy way, it's just a very solid, well-kept place.
I'll just get the main thing out of the way first. It used to be a stable block. There's a glass walkway over the kitchen that takes you through to one of the bedrooms. It's unusual, but it lets light in. Some people love the quirk of it.
Outside, there's a big decked area with a hot tub. It also has a shepherd's hut style sauna out there. The views are over open countryside.
Inside is all open plan on the living floor. It's got proper good facilities: a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and all your bedding and towels are included. There's parking. If you need a cot or a highchair, they're here too.
The location is quiet. You're a couple of minutes' walk from a small shop. There's a pub and a restaurant about half a mile away. The coast is about seven or eight miles away.
For getting out, you're in a good spot. The Ayrshire Coastal Path starts up the coast at Skelmorlie. Culzean Castle and its country park are about a 20 minute drive. You can get ferries from Largs over to the Isle of Cumbrae, or from Ardrossan to Arran.
If you want to go further, Glasgow is about 45 minutes by car for a day trip. Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is just over an hour's drive.
No pets allowed, sorry.
There's a separate property next door, Hillend Farmhouse. You can book them together if you're a larger group.
