The Squirrels Drey C32 Machynlleth

The Squirrels Drey is cabin number 32 on a caravan park near Machynlleth. It’s a two-bedroom place that sleeps four. There’s one bathroom. It's a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean, not luxurious.

It’s tucked back in the trees, detached from the others. You can hear the river from the deck. The view from there is over fields towards the mountains.

The main thing is the deck and the hot tub. You get both to yourselves. It’s a good spot to sit out.

Inside, it’s all open plan. Living room, kitchen, dining area together. There’s a wood burning stove for cooler evenings. It has a washing machine, and bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside. There’s an electric vehicle charger on site.

The park itself is family-run. There’s a local pub a short walk away.

Machynlleth is about a five-minute drive. It’s a small market town. There’s a market on Wednesdays. It has some interesting shops and a few places to eat. The town is in the UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere.

You’re on the edge of Snowdonia. For walking, the Snowdonia National Park site has route ideas. The Dyfi Valley is good for cycling.

For wildlife, the RSPB Ynys-hir reserve is about 15 minutes south. The Dyfi Osprey Project is at the Cors Dyfi reserve, which is nearby.

This area is known for low-flying aircraft training, called the Mach Loop. You might see jets from the deck or from the hills. It’s not constant, but it happens.

The coast at Aberdyfi is about 20 minutes away by car.
