Lofty Glantwymyn

It's called Lofty and it's a treehouse. It's near Glantwymyn, in mid Wales. It sleeps five, but it's one open-plan space up in the trees, with a double bed and bunk beds built into the walls. There's one bathroom, but it's separate: the shower is underneath the main structure and the compost toilet is on its own platform nearby.

It's a proper treehouse. You get up to it by a spiral staircase or a rope bridge. There are hammocks and the windows look right out into the branches. You'll see squirrels and birds. It's very quiet.

The living space has a wood burner, a small kitchen area, and basic furniture. It's rustic. The rating is 3 Star, which feels right. It's clean and everything works, but it's about the experience of being in the trees, not about luxury.

You're deep in the countryside here. Machynlleth is about five miles away. It's got shops, pubs, and a good market on Wednesdays. For bigger supermarkets or the train station, that's your nearest proper town.

If you like walking, you're close to the Snowdonia National Park. The Red Ridge Centre, about half an hour west, does activities like kayaking and zip-lining. The coast at Aberdyfi or Aberystwyth is within a 30 minute drive.

Facilities: there's a wood burner, an outdoor patio area, parking right there, and bedding is provided. It's glamping, so expect that level of comfort. No pets.
