Honeysuckle Cottage is in Aberllefenni in Mid Wales. It's a conversion of an old Welsh chapel, built in 1825, where my family and I live above. It's for two people.
You get a one bedroom, one bathroom cottage with slate floors and beamed ceilings. It's a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean. The walls are thick stone, so it stays cool in summer. The main feature is the two acre garden that runs down to the river Dulas. You can hear the water from the cottage. The garden is yours to use.
On the other side of the river are oak woods, which are a protected area. There are paths through them that go past some waterfalls and a gorge, and on to the villages of Aberllefenni and Corris. It's good walking straight from the door.
The local shop and pub are in Corris, about two miles away. Machynlleth, the market town, is a short drive. The Centre for Alternative Technology is just down the valley. For a day out, the Dyfi estuary and the RSPB Ynys-hir nature reserve are close. The beaches at Aberdyfi and Ynyslas are about half an hour's drive. You can be in southern Snowdonia in roughly the same time.
Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are provided. There's parking. You can bring up to two dogs. It's a linked property, so you can book it together with Jasmine Cottage next door for four people.
