Alt Na Blathaich

This place is called Alt Na Blathaich. It's in Barnacabber, near Dunoon in Argyll. You're right in the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park.

It’s a three bedroom cottage that sleeps six. There's one bathroom, which is downstairs. One of the bedrooms is down there too, so it works if stairs are tricky for someone. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s comfortable and modern inside.

The main thing is the view. You look straight out over Loch Eck from the living area. Big windows. There's a wee patio area out the front with chairs, so you can sit outside with that view.

There's a private mooring just down from the garden. It's perfect if you're bringing kayaks or stand-up paddleboards. You can just launch straight from there.

This bit of Argyll is sometimes called the 'Secret Coast'. It's quiet. You've got sea lochs, old forests, and ruins. Dunoon is the nearest town for shops, a leisure centre, and things like that.

If you fancy a drive, Portavadie is about 30 minutes away. They've got a marina, a restaurant, and a spa you can book into. From there you can get a short ferry over to Tarbert on the Kintyre peninsula. Tighnabruaich village is lovely, with great views over to Bute.

For walking, the Cowal Way long-distance path is on the doorstep. You can also catch a tiny ferry from Colintraive to the Isle of Bute in a few minutes. Rothesay on Bute is a proper old Victorian seaside town.

Facilities: it’s got a woodburning stove, WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need it. Parking on site. There’s also an electric vehicle charger. No pets, sorry.

A couple of useful links for places nearby: Benmore Botanic Garden and Mount Stuart on Bute.
