The Malthouse

The Malthouse is a conversion of an old building in Norton St Philip. It's big. It sleeps fourteen across seven bedrooms, with four bathrooms.

Few things up front. It's Grade II listed. So the floors are uneven, there are steps up and down between rooms, and the stairs are narrow and twisty. They're proper old cottage stairs, so mind your head.

It's got a five star rating, which means it's well equipped. The kitchen is big, handmade, and has everything for a group that size. You've got a washer and dryer, a dishwasher. The garden's enclosed with a lawn, a patio with lots of seating, and a BBQ.

There's an inglenook fireplace in the sitting room with a wood burner. The heating is underfloor in the main living area, which is good in winter. The bedrooms are large. One on the top floor has a glass wall looking right into the old roof beams.

The village has a pub, The George Inn, right next door. It's very historic and serves food. Bath is about fifteen minutes by car. That's your main destination for shopping, restaurants, and the Roman Baths.

Within a half hour drive you've got a lot. Longleat Safari Park, Stourhead gardens, Stonehenge, and Glastonbury. The Hauser & Wirth gallery in Bruton is about twenty five minutes away.

It takes two well-behaved dogs. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included.
