Herons Weir is on the edge of Frome, down a little dead-end road. It’s a converted industrial workshop, so it’s got a bit more space than your typical cottage. It’s one of a pair, but it's completely separate.
It sleeps five. There are three bedrooms, and each one has its own bathroom, which is handy. Everything’s very new and solid. Oak doors, marble floors. Underfloor heating downstairs. It’s got a four star rating, which feels about right.
The best bit is the river. It sits right by the River Mells, next to Jeffries Mill sluice and weir. There’s a bit of patio out the front where you can sit and watch the water. You’ll see herons, and you might spot a kingfisher or an otter if you’re patient.
Frome town centre is about a mile and a half away. It’s one of those proper market towns with good independent shops and cafés. The monthly market is popular. There’s a shop and a pub about the same distance away, so you’re not isolated.
Good for exploring. Bath is about a half hour drive. Wells, with its cathedral, is a bit closer. Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar Gorge, and Longleat are all within half an hour too. If you like walking, there are plenty of village and riverside footpaths, often ending at a pub.
Inside it’s got a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, and a BBQ. The WiFi works. Parking is on site. All bedding and towels are included. No pets allowed.
