Dippers Folly
I'm at Frome station, so if you're coming by train, it's very close. Dippers Folly is about a mile and a half out from the town centre. It's one of two cottages converted from an old workshop. The river is right outside.
It sleeps three. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, so no queueing. It's a 4 star place. That means it's comfortable, with underfloor heating and things like marble floors. It feels solid.
The main thing is the river. You have a sitting area right by it. The water comes from the weir, so it's always moving. You see a lot of birds. I've seen herons, dippers, and kingfishers. You might see an otter if you're quiet.
Frome town is great. Cobbled lanes, little streams running down the streets, good independent shops. The monthly market is busy. There’s a shop and a pub about a mile and a half away.
For days out, you've got good options within half an hour. Longleat is obvious. Stonehenge is about forty minutes. Wells Cathedral is lovely. Bath is under half an hour for the Roman Baths and everything else. Glastonbury Tor is a short drive.
Inside, it's got what you'd expect: a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right there. No pets, sorry.
