Welshouse is a converted barn near Newcastle Emlyn, in Carmarthenshire. It's on our smallholding, so you'll see sheep and cows in the fields around it. It's detached, so you're on your own. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you have a dog or kids.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The living area is open plan, with a wood burner. The stairs go up to a galleried landing, which we've set up as a little reading nook with a couple of chairs.
The village of Henllan is close by, and Newcastle Emlyn is about a six minute drive. It's a small town with a castle ruin and some shops. It's on the River Teifi, which is good for fishing.
The coast is about a fifteen to thirty minute drive. Nice beaches like Tresaith, Aberporth, and Llangranog are all within that range. New Quay is about twenty five minutes away; you can sometimes see dolphins from the harbour there, and they do boat trips. For a bigger beach, Poppit Sands is near Cardigan.
If you're looking for things to do, the National Trust's Dinefwr estate is worth a visit, and the Visit Wales site has good information for the area. The National Wool Museum is in Dre-fach Felindre, which is a short drive.
Facilities: there's parking, wifi, a TV, and the bedding and towels are included. The wood burner is there for you to use, and there's a BBQ. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
