Treat yourself to a relaxing break in this beautifully renovated stone cottage with stylish modern extension - tucked away in a quiet lane in the heart of the tiny city of St Davids. The modern luxury kitchen is the hub of the house. Bright and well equipped, it opens onto a modern extension with vaulted ceiling where the dining table and comfortable leather sofas look out through a wall of bi-fold doors onto the immaculately tended walled garden. Downstairs the cosy sitting room is well supplied with sofas and armchairs ranged around a modern wood burner, starter logs supplied and Smart TV. The downstairs double bedroom looks out into the pretty, side garden and has an ample modern shower room adjacent. Upstairs the master bedroom is up one step and is decorated in calm pale colours with a kingsize bed and vaulted ceiling. The twin and single bedrooms look out over neighbouring roofs towards the sea and the offshore Clerks and Bishops’ rocks.
Walk out from your front door to the pubs, restaurants and interesting shops in the city’ or investigate its many footpaths. For a challenging trek, the surrounding coastal path offers great scope, but if you have toddlers looking for climbing frames and swings, it is a short stroll to the playground. St Davids Cathedral, dedicated to Wales’s Patron Saint, is a historic monument and a busy international music venue as well as a place of worship. Built in 1181, it has weathered the centuries with varying fortunes. In the most recent phase of conservation and building a modern refectory has been added to the newly restored cloisters. Visit for coffee or a meal and take time to enjoy the history and atmosphere of this very special place.
Across the tiny river Alun is the St Davids Bishops’ Palace. Now in the guardianship of CADW, it is a ruin but it’s lovely decorated stonework, wheel window, halls and stairways have been restored sufficiently to fire the imagination of young and old. Let your children play while they absorb the atmosphere of this site of medieval power and influence. Beach ¾ mile. Pub and restaurant 150 yards.
