This charming, detached cottage on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast was once home to a family of friendly hens has now been converted into a characterful holiday home. Formerly part of the Dunraven Estate as a gentleman’s residence The Hen House is located at the end of a 600-yard private driveway in a small courtyard together with Slade Cottage. The estate now privately owned includes the premier organic award-winning Slade Farm which has its own farm shop, it also offers guided farm walks, tractor rides and bird-watching safaris to cottage visitors by arrangement with the owners, as well as a wealth of detailed information about the local environment.
On the ground floor Of The Hen House, you will find two bedrooms and the living room, which is overlooked by the dining room on the mezzanine floor which leads to the kitchen with lovely rural views over organic pastures. On the first floor you will find a single bedroom. The small walled private patio is ideal for barbecues and the separate large lawned area is great for games of all sorts.
Within walking distance is the local pub or try the Italian restaurant for a wonderful Italian meal, very family friendly. Explore Dunraven Castle and Ogmore Castle, fancy a round of golf at Southerdown Golf Club or short drive into Cowbridge, the Bond Street of Wales, with its boutique shops lining an ancient Roman road and quaint Llantwit Major, with narrow streets steeped in Welsh history and an ancient seat of learning for Welsh saints.
The Hen House can be booked together with Slade Cottage to accommodate up to 14 guests.
