The Rubbing House is on Saint Roche's Hill, near Goodwood. It's a big house up in the woods with views over West Sussex. Sleeps sixteen. Seven bedrooms, five bathrooms.
It's a 5 Star place. That means it's well-equipped and kept to a high standard. There's a main house and a separate one-bedroom annexe called Yew Cottage. Also a detached music room with its own shower, which sleeps two.
The stairs are grand, but they are stairs. Watch your step.
There's a large kitchen and dining room, good for big groups. The drawing room has a big fireplace. Outside there's a games room in an outbuilding with snooker and table tennis. The garden has a lawn and looks out over the view. You get the whole grounds to yourselves.
It's secluded. The shop is two and a half miles away. The nearest pub is a mile and a half. You'll want a car.
The house is on the edge of the Goodwood Estate. The racecourse is less than a mile away. The motor circuit and Goodwood House are a short drive.
You're right on the South Downs for walking. The Trundle, which is an old hill fort, is basically in the garden. For other local walks and information, the South Downs National Park site is useful.
Chichester is about four miles. It's got the theatre, the canal, and the harbour.
Facilities include all the things you'd expect: towels, bedding, washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. There's a cot and highchair if needed. Parking for several cars on the drive.
