The Old Surgery is attached to Corner Cottage, which is our main house in Singleton. We live there, but you get the whole lower wing to yourselves. It's got its own entrance.
It sleeps four, maybe five if you use the day bed in the big upstairs room. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 5 Star, but don't let that make you think it's fancy. It's comfortable. It's old, but we've done it up properly.
The stairs are fine. The bathroom is on the ground floor, next to the ground floor bedroom. That bath is Japanese style, so it's deep but you sit in it. There's a good separate shower.
You get a little walled patio garden out the French doors. It's enclosed, so a dog would be safe. Speaking of which, we take one dog. Our corgi, Gwen, is friendly but a bit of a territorial old lady, so she's only really comfortable with other female dogs. Something to bear in mind.
The village is quiet. The Fox Goes Free pub is a two minute walk. They do good food. The shop is a bit further, in Chilgrove. Best to drive.
We're in the South Downs. Goodwood Estate is ten minutes away by car, for the races or the Festival of Speed. Chichester is about fifteen minutes. The beach at West Wittering is maybe twenty-five minutes, depending on traffic.
For history, you've got the Weald & Downland Living Museum just up the road in Singleton itself. Weald & Downland Living Museum. Arundel Castle and Petworth House are about half an hour's drive. Petworth House.
What's in the cottage: wood burner, dishwasher, washing machine, Smart TV, WiFi, bike storage, a BBQ. Bedding and towels are included.
