Nightingale Cottage
This character cottage, dating back to the 1830s, has two spacious bedrooms with sash windows looking over the woodland beyond, and a double sofa bed, making this an ideal choice for both couples, friends and families. It has a separate kitchen overlooking the garden, fully equipped with dishwasher and washer/dryer making your stay even more hassle-free, and a breakfast bar to perch on while the cook of your group cooks up a culinary treat. Cosy evenings can be spent in the living room, with an exposed brick chimney and roaring wood burner creating the perfect setting for a winter’s night in with a glass of wine in hand and a competitive board game among friends or family. With a second exposed chimney breast adding to the character of the cottage, the dining room is ideal for memorable meals together, and transforms into an additional sleeping space with a double sofa bed.
Outside, an impressively spacious garden awaits, with views over fields on one side and a backdrop of woodland the other, with two striking mature oak trees at the heart, and surrounded by nature, with nightingales often heard during the summer months and deer striding over from the woodland. Come sundown, the garden is certainly the best place to be, with astounding views of the stars – an area known to have one of the least light polluted skies in Europe, a real delight for keen star gazers.
Ideally situated for exploring both the countryside and coast, with a choice of picturesque countryside walks on your doorstep and the coast only a 20-minute drive away. it lies between the villages of Woodchurch and Shadoxhurst, with a friendly pub restaurant within a 20-minute stroll, whilst a further choice of locally renowned pubs are within a 10-minute drive. For family days out the Rare Breeds Centre and Port Lympne Safari Park are within easy reach, whilst adults of the group may decide to explore the quaint streets of the nearby historic market towns of Tenterden and Rye, or arrange a tour and tasting at one of many local vineyards. Should you be able to draw yourself away from the peace of the Kent countryside, and find the city calling, a 10-minute drive away lies Ashford International Station with direct trains into London in 38 minutes. You can also access France easily with the Channel Tunnel just 25-minutes drive from the cottage. Nightingale Cottage is the ideal choice for a peaceful long weekend, week or longer stay in the Kent countryside.
