The original part of the Toll Cottage dates to the 1800s and some of the original features and beams have been retained. The living room is accessed from the kitchen and has a wood burner and beams. This gorgeous room is a relaxing, peaceful space to end the day with the Smart TV and super comfortable seating. The kitchen has period features, is well-equipped and has a window looking over the garden. Leading upstairs, the staircase is quite steep and takes you to two bedrooms; the main bedroom is beautifully decorated, flooded with lots of natural bright light, with plenty of storage for your belongings. The second bedroom has a single bed and is a bright and inviting space. Either one of these bedrooms will be a superb space for a restful night’s sleep. The family bathroom has fantastic water pressure to wash off the day’s adventures. Outside is the lovely garden with barbecue and sitting area.
Toll Cottage is located in the village of Robertsbridge which is thought to date back to 1176. It is approximately 10 miles north of Hastings and less than 20 miles from the prestigious Royal Tunbridge Wells, where you can experience the culture, beautiful scenery and independent shops. The River Rother runs through the village, and there are many places to visit, including Leeds Castle, 23½ miles, Eastbourne, with its pier, is 20 miles, and Glyndebourne Opera House is less than 25 miles away where you can explore the grounds, have a picnic and take in a show.
The cottage is ideally situated to several National Trust properties including Sissinghurst Castle and Batemans, a 17th century house located in Burwash, East Sussex, and home of Rudyard Kipling. Less than 10 miles away is Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest, a perfect spot for walkers, cyclists and if you are feeling adventurous, you can explore the treetops with a tree top challenge at Go Ape Bedgebury. Bodiam Castle is within 5 miles and makes an interesting day out.
