The village of Bearsted sits at the foot of the North Downs. The village centre retains a traditional atmosphere and boosts 59 listed properties many surrounding the village green flanked by two pubs. There is a railway station with connections to London approximate travel time one hour a small supermarket and a selection of eating places. Leeds castle is ten minutes from the property and is set in 500 acres of beautiful parkland. The historic castle glorious gardens attractions and programme of events is open all year round and there is something for everyone. The market town of Maidstone is only three miles away and is known as the heart of the ’Garden of England’. Once better known for its brewing and paper making past now more of a haven for shoppers and tourists. The river Medway runs through the centre of the town linking Maidstone to Rochester and the Thames Estuary. Once the main trade route now used more for pleasure and tourism with a River Festival in July. The town has a selection of museums and galleries to enjoy. The historic Rochester is twenty minutes away the home of author Charles Dickens Rochester Cathedral Rochester Castle and the Historic Naval Dockyards. The Dickens Festival in June Sweeps Festival on May Day and the Dickensian Christmas Festival in December which will make a day out here very worthwhile. Pub, shop and restaurant ½ mile.
