The Old Workshop

The Old Workshop is a barn conversion on our working farm in Stowupland. It's detached, so it's just you. It's a single storey place, which is handy. It sleeps two people in one bedroom. You can bring up to two dogs.

It's got a five star rating. That means it's modern, well kitted out and comfortable.

The main room is all open plan. There's a big kitchen area with an electric Range-style oven. The lounge area has a large panoramic window that looks out over the fields and the farm's horse arena. The blinds on that window are interesting. They're these vertical fabric strips you can pull across and arrange individually. They work fine, they're just a different system.

You've got your own private courtyard garden with a barbecue and patio furniture. The patio doors open straight out to it.

There's underfloor heating and a wood burning stove for colder months. The hot tub is wood-fired too. We'll have it set up and ready for you to light when you arrive.

Inside, it's all step-free. The shower is a walk-in. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right next to the barn.

Stowmarket is the nearest town, about three miles away. It has shops, a cinema, and a mainline train station with trains to London. You can be in central Ipswich in about 25 minutes.

For days out, Bury St Edmunds and its abbey gardens are about a 25 minute drive. The Suffolk Heritage Coast, with places like Aldeburgh and Southwold, is roughly 45 minutes to an hour away. Cambridge is just under an hour's drive.
