Wilby Halt
Wilby Halt is in Knaves Green. It's two old railway carriages joined by a platform. You stay in one carriage for living and cooking, and the other for sleeping.
It's on the track bed of the old Mid Suffolk Light Railway. It's surrounded by fields, so it's quiet. The nearest pub is about two miles away.
It sleeps five. There's one bedroom with a double bed, and a second room with a bunk bed and a single bed. There's one bathroom. You get bedding and towels.
The place has a 4 Star rating. The carriages have been restored, so they're proper buildings, not just sheds. But they are carriages, so the space is cleverly used. You'll feel that.
There are a few other railway carriages and a station house on the same site that other people might be staying in. You have your own patio garden area.
The owners have a swimming pool, hot tub and sauna about three quarters of a mile away. You can use it. The pool is heated all year.
The Mid-Suffolk Light Railway Museum is a short walk away. They run steam trains on summer weekends. Debenham is four miles away, it has shops and a couple of pubs. Mendlesham is closer, about a mile and a half, and has a pub and a bakery.
You can drive to the Suffolk coast in about 45 minutes. Framlingham Castle is about 25 minutes away. For a bigger town, Ipswich is about half an hour.
Facilities: there's a TV, a patio garden, and parking. You can bring one dog.
