Railway Carriage Two

This is Railway Carriage Two. It's on what used to be the Mid Suffolk Light Railway line, near the museum. You're looking out over fields.

It sleeps six. Two bedrooms. One has a double bed, the other has adult-sized bunk beds. There's also a sofa bed in the living area for two more. It's a railway carriage, so the space is long and narrow, but it feels more spacious than you'd think. The living area and kitchen are open plan.

The bathroom has a shower. The whole place is on one level, so there are no stairs to worry about.

It's got its own bit of patio. You can park right outside. We include all the bedding and towels. You can bring one dog.

The site has a few other carriages and a station house. They're all separate. Ours is the one that sleeps six. There's a shared swimming pool, a hot tub and a sauna about three-quarters of a mile up the road. They're heated from March to November.

The Mid-Suffolk Railway Museum is a short walk away. They run steam trains on weekends in the summer. It's a nice thing to have on the doorstep.

The village of Mendlesham is a mile and a half away. It's got a pub, a shop, and a bakery. Debenham is four miles. That's a bit bigger, with a few shops, pubs, a cafe, and a leisure centre.

You're in the middle of farmland, so the walking and cycling is good right from the door. If you want to go further, the Suffolk coast at places like Southwold or Aldeburgh is about a 40-minute drive. Framlingham Castle is maybe half an hour away.
