The Guards Van is on the old Mid Suffolk Light Railway line near Knaves Green. It's a proper old railway van converted into a cottage. It sleeps four, in one double bedroom and one room with two singles.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The living area has the original bench seats, so you get the feel of the carriage.
The stairs up to the bedroom are the original van steps. They're steep and a bit narrow. Just so you know.
You're on a site with other railway carriages and a station house. It's quiet here, just fields and country lanes. You can walk to the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway Museum. They run steam trains on summer weekends.
The owner has a swimming pool, a hot tub, and a sauna about three-quarters of a mile away. You can use them.
The village of Mendlesham is a mile and a half away. It's got a pub, a shop, and a bakery. Debenham is four miles. That's bigger, with a few shops, cafes, and a supermarket.
For days out, you're about half an hour from the coast at Aldeburgh or Southwold. National Trust sites like Sutton Hoo are in that range too. Framlingham Castle is a good one with kids.
Facilities are all included: bedding, towels, WiFi, TV, parking. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. No pets.
