Highlands is a traditional period English family home nestled in the countryside situated within walking distance of a local pub serving food and drinks. Internally the rooms are airy and large, and many boast views over the lovely countryside. Highlands is the perfect house for family gatherings, long lazy lunches and supper parties during the autumn and winter months.
Downstairs consists of a large open-plan room which is the heart of the house, boasting the kitchen at one end containing a beautiful aga, American fridge/freezer and dishwasher, leading onto a large dining area with a table that can seat up to twelve guests with the far end of the room providing a comfortable snug with a large corner sofa and armchair, plenty big enough for six guests, an open fire and Sky TV. In addition to this is a large drawing room providing a more formal space to relax in, along with an office space for anyone needing to work from home. There is also a utility room containing a gas cooker, washing machine, drying rack and tumble dryer, providing everything you could need at your convenience. With a bathroom upstairs containing a bath over the shower and a downstairs shower room, there is plenty of space for all of your guests. Downstairs there is a double bedroom, and then upstairs there are three further bedrooms. Two travel cots and two highchairs are available, but please bring your own bedding for the cots. Externally there is a private garden complete with fabulous treehouse for the children, there is a patio area with table and chairs for eight guests and a gas barbecue, perfect for alfresco eating and relaxing after a long day exploring. Set back from the roadside the property provides ample off road parking to a gated driveway.
The house is set in beautiful East Sussex countryside with long views over the hills. There are plenty of places to walk near the house across countryside and nearby woodland. Hastings is about 10 minutes away with its lovely Old Town, fishing huts, pier, beaches, shops and restaurants. Hastings also boasts the steepest working funicular railway in the UK along with the Blue Reef Aquarium and three different crazy golf courses, which provide the home of the annual crazy golf world championships. The historic town of Battle is only a 5-minute drive away boasting a range of independent shops alongside 1066’s Battle Abbey, the home of the Battle of Hastings.
Further afield towns such as Rye, Eastbourne or Tunbridge Wells are all easily accessible via car or train from Battle. Local pebble beaches can be found at Hastings, or why not travel to the sandy dunes of Camber Sands which is approximately a 40-minute drive away? Other places of interest such as Bodiam Castle and Scotney Castle are all within a short drive. Highlands is situated very close to wedding venues such as Leeford Place in Whatlington itself, and a number situated in Battle including Battle Abbey and Pilgrims Rest, and would provide an ideal location for families to stay together to enjoy the festivities. Please note however that Highlands is not able to welcome pets.
