Meg's Rest is in Aberbechan, near Newtown in Powys. It's a one-bedroom place for two people, on a working farm. The owners live on site and are happy to show you around if you want to see the animals.
The building was converted recently. It's got stone floors with underfloor heating, which keeps it warm. There are some original wooden beams. The bed is a king size. The kitchen has what you need. The shower is a decent size. It's a comfortable, clean place. It has a 4 Star rating.
Outside, there's your own wood-fired hot tub. You'll need to light it and get it going yourself, but it's yours for the stay. There's also a barbecue.
The location is quiet. You're in a valley. There's a brook you can walk along on the farm. For a longer walk, Dolforwyn Castle is a couple of miles away. It's a Welsh castle from the 1200s, up on a hill. Cadw Dolforwyn Castle.
Newtown is about three miles south for shops. Welshpool is about a twenty-minute drive north. Powis Castle is near Welshpool. It's a grand place with famous gardens. National Trust Powis Castle.
If you fancy a day at the coast, Aberystwyth is roughly an hour's drive west. The Elan Valley lakes and reservoirs are also within a half hour drive for walking. For more local walks and information, Visit Mid Wales is useful.
Facilities wise: it has WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. The entrance and main room are on the ground level and are wheelchair accessible. No pets. They decorate for Christmas and provide a hamper over the festive period.
