Cefnaire

This is Cefnaire. It's a big farmhouse just outside Newtown. You're not far from the town at all, maybe a mile, but it feels properly rural here. It stands on its own so there's no one attached.

It's been done up really well inside. They've kept a lot of the old features but it's not at all poky or dark. It's a good, comfortable place. There are five bedrooms so it sleeps up to ten people. Three bathrooms means you shouldn't have too many queues.

The garden has a fair bit of lawn at the front and the back. There's a hot tub and some garden furniture out there. It's a good space if you've got a family group.

Newtown itself is handy. It's got all the shops you'd need and a few places to eat. There's a theatre too. The town is on the River Severn and there's the old canal if you fancy a walk.

You're well placed here. Powis Castle is about twenty minutes away. It's a National Trust place and it's magnificent - the gardens are really something. The National Trust website has all the details. There's also Gregynog Hall and Glansevern Hall Gardens if you like that sort of thing.

If you want to get active, there's golf nearby, and horse riding. Quad biking and paintballing are an option too.

What you've got here is a good, spacious house that's been looked after. It's got the rating because it's well equipped. There's a wood burner, dishwasher, washing machine, parking, and the Wi-Fi works fine. Bedding and towels are included. We take up to three dogs.

For planning wider trips, the Visit Wales site is useful. The coast is about an hour and a half west if you fancy a day at the sea.
