Achara Farm
Achara Farmhouse is a beautiful, refurbished home set in its own 24-acre farmlands surrounded by mountains and spectacular scenery. The house can comfortably accommodate a gathering of family, friends, walkers, or cyclists, looking for a peaceful, remote, and beautiful escape with clean air and stunning scenery. There is room for everyone to have their own space yet enjoy time together in the spacious reception rooms and beautiful, extensive enclosed gardens. Cosily heated with oil central heating, complimented by underfloor heating and a welcoming open fire, you’ll feel right at home in Achara Farm. The large open-plan living-room and dining room with an open fire, provides the ideal gathering space for convivial evenings ensuring that you’ll have a relaxing, sociable holiday with the benefit of great connectivity from Wi-Fi and the Smart TV. There’s even a separate cosy “den” with comfy seating and a TV, for those who wish to spend some quiet time in comfort. The four bedrooms sleep eight adults on great quality, comfy beds, with the convenience of 3 bathrooms. The well-equipped kitchen is centred around a big farmhouse table for informal dining, plus there’s a handy utility room too.
Patio doors lead from the living room onto a terrace at the side of the house, which is a lovely sunspot for enjoying the best of the day’s sunshine and there are seating areas around the garden from which to enjoy the stunning views. There’s plenty of room in the extensive mature enclosed gardens for a family to play and many fantastic walks around the farm to enjoy. Achara Farm is a working farm, so you may see the Farmer coming and going to see to the livestock in the barn and in the fields.
The beach at picturesque Cuil Bay is a 10-minute walk and is great for paddling or picnics on warmer days. Within a 3 mile walk or 5-minute drive is a great bar and restaurant with stunning sea views at nearby Kentallen. The area is a delight for walkers, surrounded by stunning coastal and mountain walks, and with 20 Monroes nearby, all abilities are catered for! Cyclists can enjoy the Sustran’s cycle track, which you can join at the edge of the farm - it’s almost entirely traffic free from Oban and Fort William. You can hire bikes at Glencoe, or electric bikes in Appin. The nearest villages to the North are Ballachulish and Glencoe, approximately 15-minutes’ drive, and offer small supermarkets, tourist information, cafés, bars, restaurants, and activities. Steeped in history, Glencoe is surrounded by the most breath-taking scenery of mountains and lochs and offers a large range of sports and outdoor activities, including winter sports, hill walking, climbing, mountaineering, fishing and water sports, mountain biking and golfing. To the South are the lovely villages of Appin and Port Appin which provide an excellent choice of cafés and inns, all offering breath-taking views and delicious local food, plus gift shops, village stores, some lovely coastal walks, and a garage with fuel. Despite its tranquillity, Achara House is conveniently located, lying between Fort William, known as the ’Outdoor Capital of the UK’ where you can access Aonach Mor mountain range and Ben Nevis, and the popular town of Oban, the ‘Seafood Capital of Scotland’ and ‘Gateway to the Isles’ which has an abundance of shops and restaurants, as well as ferries to islands such as stunning Mull, Iona and Staffa, amongst others.
