Loads of outdoor sports to enjoy locally, with a kayaking centre in the town centre, which launches into Oban Bay and many small boat trips visiting nearby islands and seal colonies. In keeping with its reputation as the Seafood Capital of Scotland, there are some excellent restaurants, cafes and pubs nearby, for relaxing after a pleasant day out exploring all the wonderful scenery and interesting attractions which Argyll has to offer.
There is a lovely sandy beach at Ganavan, just two miles’ drive along the coastal road. Dunollie, Dunstaffnage and Kilchurn Castles are some of the nearby castles to visit as part of a day’s sightseeing. Further afield but within an hour’s drive, visitors can enjoy the scenery of Glencoe, take a trip to Fort William to see Ben Nevis or catch the steam train to Mallaig, or take a visit to Inveraray to enjoy the Castle or infamous Jail.
