Near beautiful Loch Fyne, amidst stunning Scottish countryside and just minutes away from the small county town of Inveraray, the historic county town of Argyll, Holly Cottage offers a warm and comfortable West Highland welcome in a peaceful courtyard setting. There are 10-acres of stunning Scottish countryside surrounding the cottage where guests have the freedom to roam, as well as private seating areas with barbecues, for each cottage. Super dog friendly, there is an outside hosepipe, doggy welcome pack plus a new totally secure paddock where your dog can roam freely, free to use but bookable with the owners to ensure peace of mind.
From the courtyard, the main door leads into the entrance hall, with three steps up to a small landing. On this level is a modern shower room and the living area with a well-equipped kitchen/dining area, ideal for self-catering for a family, open-plan to the welcoming living room enjoying views to the western hills beyond. Leading directly from the entrance hall is a spacious bedroom which has courtyard views and a kingsize bed. Stairs lead up to the first floor where there two further delightful bedrooms, one with kingsize bed with courtyard views and the other bedroom, which has twin beds, enjoying views over the garden to the hills. Thoughtfully renovated and decorated in traditional style with contemporary touches, it’s a comfortable cottage ideal for a larger family or group family.
Killean Farm was built in the 17th century and has served as a farmhouse and family home for many years. The cottages were converted from the original farm buildings and are set in a square around a courtyard. Despite its rural location, there’s a café and bar within 1½ miles or a 30 minute walk from the cottage. It’s just five minutes’ drive into the heart of Inveraray, home to Inveraray Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll. Inveraray offers many local amenities and attractions with traditional pubs and cafés, independent stores, supermarket, a spa and a golf course. Travelling 8 miles along the coast of Loch Fyne on the A83, you will arrive at the small friendly village of Furnace, with a village hall, convenience store and post office. Continue 12 miles to the small county town of Lochgilphead, with its interesting and eclectic shops, cafés, bars and a leisure centre with swimming pool. On the way, you’ll pass the Museum of Highland Village Life at Auchindrain, the National Trust Gardens at Crarae, and with a themed activity and adventure centre nearby, there’s always plenty to see and do.
This part of Argyll has miles of unspoilt countryside with fantastic mountain, woodland and coastal walks to enjoy. Nature lovers will be delighted with abundant wildlife and many local Nature and Forestry reserves offering walking and cycling routes. Oban, the Gateway to the Isles, is just a 40 minute drive, with supermarkets, ferry terminal, shops, cafés, restaurants, a cinema, leisure centre and whisky distillery. On the way to Oban, there are many beautiful attractions including Kilchurn Castle, St Conan’s Kirk, Cruachan Visitor Centre and Loch Awe. For day trips, you are conveniently situated for ferries to Arran, Bute, Islay and Gigha, and to Campbeltown, Kilmartin, Glencoe and Loch Lomond. Beach 1 mile.
