Killean Farm was built in the 17th century and has served as a farmhouse and family home for many years. The cottages were converted from the original farm buildings and are set in a square around a courtyard. It’s just 5 minutes’ drive into the heart of Inveraray, home to Inveraray Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll. Inveraray has a many local amenities and attractions including traditional pubs, cafés, independent stores, supermarket and a golf course. Despite the rural location, there’s a café and bar within 1½ miles or 30 minutes’ walk of the cottage. Travelling 8 miles along the coast of Loch Fyne on the A83 will take you the small village of Furnace, which has a village hall, convenience store and post office. This part of Argyll has miles of unspoilt countryside with fantastic mountain, woodland and coastal walks to enjoy. Nature lovers will be spoilt for choice with abundant wildlife to see and many Nature and Forestry reserves offering walking and cycling routes. For a great day out, a trip to Oban, the Gateway to the Isles, just a 40-minute drive, gives you access supermarkets, ferry terminal, shops, cafés, restaurants, a cinema, leisure centre and whisky distillery. On the way to Oban, there are a number of beautiful attractions to visit including Kilchurn Castle, St Conan’s Kirk and Cruachan Visitor Centre, and Loch Awe which is Scotland’s longest freshwater loch and has superb fishing, enchanted islands and deserted castles to explore.
