The Dower House is in Stow Bardolph, near Downham Market. It's a detached farmhouse from the 1800s, a Grade II listed building. It's in the countryside, with a big lawned garden.
It sleeps eighteen people, which is a lot. There are nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms, so you shouldn't have to queue. It's got a 5 Star rating, so everything is in good order.
It was built for farm managers, so the rooms are big but the stairs are fairly standard, not those tiny cottage ones. There's a games room with table tennis and table football. You can also use the owner's hard tennis court, which is a bonus. We've put a hot tub in the garden.
The Hare Arms pub is right across the road, about a hundred yards. They do good food and have won awards. If you're a large group wanting to eat there, you should book ahead.
For a shop or supermarket, you drive two miles to Downham Market. It has a Friday and Saturday market and a train station with links to Ely, Cambridge, and London.
If you have children, Church Farm Rare Breeds Centre is just down the lane. It has animals you can pet and an adventure playground. Stow Hall Gardens are nice for a walk and a tea room.
The coast is about half an hour's drive. The nearest sandy beach is at Snettisham. Further along you have Hunstanton, which is a traditional seaside town with a pier and a Sea Life Centre. The RSPB reserves along that coast are excellent for birdwatching.
Sandringham House and gardens are about a 25 minute drive and are open when the Royal Family isn't there. Towards Cambridge, you have Ely Cathedral. It's known as the Ship of the Fens and is worth seeing.
Facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. There's plenty of parking on site. You can bring up to three dogs.
