Timbers Barn is on a farm in Thorpland, about a mile and a half from Downham Market. It's next to the farmhouse, one of several cottages here. You get your own little patio area and there are shared grounds where the kids can run around.
The barn sleeps five. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, one of them is a walk-in shower. The rating is 4 Star, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's a proper barn conversion, so you've got the beams and the thick walls. It's nice and quiet.
There's a shared heated outdoor pool, open in the summer. There's also a games room and a hot tub. You can book fishing on the farm pond if you want to. It's a working farm, so there will sometimes be tractors and things about.
The shop and the nearest pub are about a mile and a half away in Denver. The pub does food. For a bigger shop, Downham Market is ten minutes by car. They've got supermarkets and a few places to eat.
The coast is about half an hour's drive. Hunstanton is the classic seaside town with a sandy beach and amusements. Or you can go to places like Holkham or Brancaster for quieter beaches and walks. The Sandringham estate is about twenty-five minutes away if you want to see the house and gardens.
Fenland walking is flat, obviously. There are plenty of footpaths and quiet lanes for cycling. You're in a good spot for the North Norfolk Railway if you like steam trains. If it rains, the games room here is handy, or you've got Oxburgh Hall nearby, which is a National Trust place with a moat.
For facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking right outside. They can provide a cot and highchair. No pets allowed.
If you're planning trips out, the Visit Norfolk site is useful, and National Trust Norfolk for their other properties and coast.
