Purlin Barn

Purlin Barn is on Thorpland Manor Farm, a working farm in Norfolk. It's one of several cottages here, converted from old farm buildings. You get your own garden area and you're welcome to walk around the farm grounds.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which helps if you've got a few of you. The rating is 4 Star, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.

Being a barn conversion, the ceilings are beamed. They're genuine features, so mind your head in a couple of spots. The stairs are also the original farmhouse type, so they're a bit steeper than modern ones.

On the farm itself there's a shared heated outdoor swimming pool, open in the summer. There's also a games room and a hot tub and sauna you can book to use. You can fish in the farm's coarse fishing lake if that's your thing.

The location is very quiet and rural. The nearest shop and a pub that does food are about a mile and a half away in the village.

For days out, you're well placed. Sandringham House and its gardens are about a twenty minute drive. The north Norfolk coast, for beaches and birdwatching, is maybe half an hour. Hunstanton is a traditional seaside town there. Oxburgh Hall, a moated manor house, is also within half an hour. It's National Trust, so check their site for opening times.

The facilities cover most of what you'd need. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. There's a stairgate at the top. No pets allowed.

For planning walks or more about the area, the Visit Norfolk site is useful, as is the National Trust page for the coast.
