Boatmans Cottage is in Portessie, just outside Buckie. It's a detached cottage, built in 1863. It's about 100 yards from the seafront.
It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well-kept. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. Both bathrooms have showers. One bedroom has twin beds and you can see Seal Island from the window. The main bedroom and the decked area outside have a view of the sea.
The kitchen and downstairs bathroom have been renovated. The downstairs windows have shutters. The stairs are cottage stairs, so they're steep.
It sleeps four. There's a cot and a stairgate if you need them. Parking is for one car on site, but you can also park on the seafront road.
You can bring two dogs. They'll get a welcome pack, and you'll get one too.
The harbour and a sandy beach with rock pools are a short walk away. There's a pub 350 yards along, and a shop and restaurant about 500 yards.
Out the back, about five minutes walk, there's an old railway line that's now a path. Good for walking the dogs or cycling.
You can get boat trips from Buckie harbour to see dolphins and seals. There are quite a few golf courses around here. The Whisky and Castle trails are nearby if you want a drive.
For planning, the National Parks in Scotland site is useful, and National Trust for Scotland has information on historic places.
