Salty Dog is in Findochty, right on the Moray Firth. It's a semi-detached fisherman's cottage, one of a row. It looks straight out over the marina.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. The rating is 4 Star. It’s comfortable and has been renovated, but it’s still an old cottage. There's an open fire in the living area.
The stairs are steep. It says open, steep, narrow stairs. So just be aware of that.
There are patio doors from the kitchen that go out to a raised, enclosed terrace. You can sit out there and watch the boats. The chip van comes on Thursdays.
The local pub is about 300 yards away, on the harbour. It does food. There's a shop the same distance.
From the village you can get straight onto the beach or the clifttop path. That's part of the Moray Coast Trail. You can walk to Cullen or Portknockie. Cullen has a famous beach and good ice cream.
A golf course is a mile west. The Glenglassaugh distillery is about seven miles inland if you like whisky. Buckie has a National Trust for Scotland visitor centre for the area.
Dolphin watching is good from the coast itself, or you can get boat trips from Macduff or Buckie. If you're lucky with the weather, you can see the northern lights in the winter.
For facilities, it's got parking, wifi, a washing machine and dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. No pets.
