Stourhead is in Witham Friary. It's just over the Somerset border from Wiltshire. The main house is a big, stone-built farmhouse that sleeps ten.
It's part of a group of five cottages on a 40-acre site. You share some facilities like the games room and swimming pool. There's also a tennis court.
The house has five bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, so everything is in good order. It's all been refurbished. There's underfloor heating downstairs.
The grounds have farmland, woods, and two lakes. The lake by the house has carp in it. We ask that you don't fish, but you can feed them. You'll see deer, hares, and a lot of birds around.
The stairs are original, so they're fairly steep. We've put stairgates at the top. Both are fine, but just so you know.
There's a pub in the village, about a five minute walk. It's a proper village pub. The shop is about six miles away in Frome, so come prepared.
The site is well set up if you have children. There's a play area, a games room, and the indoor pool. The cottages are spaced out so it doesn't feel too busy.
Location is good. You're right between Somerset, Wiltshire, and Dorset. For a day out, Stourhead is only a few minutes' drive. Longleat is about twenty minutes. Bath is maybe forty minutes. Cheddar Gorge is under half an hour. You can be in Salisbury or Glastonbury in under an hour.
Facilities: everything on the list is there. Washing machine, dishwasher, EV charger, BBQ, towels and bedding included. It's a good place for a big group or a family get-together.
